TRAVEL

Vienna International Airport

Arrival

Vienna is easily accessible by air, rail, and road, making it a convenient destination for participants travelling from across Europe and beyond. The city is served by Vienna International Airport (VIE), which is located approximately 18 kilometres from the city centre.

Transfers

Transfers

Participants arriving at VIE can reach the city centre using a variety of transport options, including airport trains, regional rail services, taxis, and ride-sharing providers. Travel times between the airport and central Vienna typically range from 15 to 30 minutes.

Transport

Transport

Vienna has an extensive and efficient public transport network comprising underground lines, trams, buses, and local trains. The system provides convenient connections throughout the city and is widely regarded as one of the most reliable ways to travel within Vienna.

Guidebook

Guidebook

A detailed Travel Guidebook will be made available closer to the event. It will include practical travel information, directions to the meeting venue, recommended routes, public transport guidance, maps, and other useful tips to help participants plan their journey.

DINNER

A networking dinner will take place on Thursday, 5 November 2026, following the conclusion of the first day of the Annual Meeting. The dinner will provide an opportunity for consortium partners and invited stakeholders to continue discussions, strengthen collaborations, and connect in an informal setting.

Further information regarding the dinner venue, programme, and timing will be shared closer to the event and added to this page once confirmed.

Participants are kindly requested to indicate any dietary requirements or food allergies when completing the meeting registration form. This information will help the organising team make appropriate arrangements for all attendees.

USEFUL INFORMATION

The official currency in Austria is the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, shops, and public transport services, although carrying a small amount of cash may be useful for smaller purchases.

German is the official language of Austria; however, English is commonly spoken in hotels, restaurants, and other locations frequently visited by international travellers.

In November, temperatures in Vienna are typically cool, with daytime temperatures averaging between 8°C and 12°C and cooler evenings. Participants are encouraged to bring suitable clothing for autumn weather.

Austria uses Type C and Type F electrical sockets with a standard voltage of 230V. Participants travelling from outside Europe may require a power adapter.

For additional visitor information about Vienna, including attractions, restaurants, and local activities, participants may visit the official Vienna tourism website (https://www.wien.info/en).
